About

an introduction

The Hook Turn Society is a private civic organisation dedicated to the preservation, protection, and respectful execution of Melbourne’s most misunderstood traffic manoeuvre: the hook turn.

Founded by a loose coalition of tram enthusiasts, patient drivers, and emotionally resilient locals, the Society exists to uphold the ancient discipline of turning right from the far left lane without panic, hesitation, or public embarrassment.

Members are united by a shared belief that the hook turn is not merely a traffic movement, but a test of character.

Through field observation, public education, and occasional silent judgment at CBD intersections, the Society works tirelessly to ensure the tradition survives for future generations.

Wait in the intersection. Trust the lights. Become the turn.
A Melbourne intersection, contemplated.
